Newer cars have a computer chip or are called 'Transponder Keys'.
They are energized when the car is turned to the 'on' position via the ignition.
The car has to have a good, and adequately energized battery to allow the car to start and then continue running.
If you start your car and then it dies; and its a transponder equiped car; there will be a red light up in the dash area. It will blink and continue blinking.
Your car will not start, if you are using a mechanical cut key, when the car will only accept this chip/transponder key.
There are tables and charts for us to reference to check and see if your vehicle has the new security system. Be aware that on some vehicles and some model years, the system is optional.
We use Original Equipment Manufacture; STRATTEC and ILCO key blanks that are within the manufactures parameters.
